![]() I know my Samsung ear buds actually have a setting you can enable to address that. I forgot the details of it, but it's a known phenomenon and has to do with not being able to hear yourself as directly (since you're wearing ear buds or whatever), so you speak louder unconsciously to try and compensate for it. People tend to speak louder when they are on a Zoom or even just cell phone than when they talk to someone in person. But, I now know to never become a zoom exhibitionist.īut is it really all that different from people having a conversation at the table next to you?įair question, but yeah I do think it (usually) is. When I mentioned doing calls, it’s more of me listening in to presentations with headphones and saying “have a good day”. I’d love to hear from other DC singles who are trying to meet people in the wild, or just recommendations for teleworking spaces!ĮDIT: Many of you have brought up your disgust with public zooming and calls, I too share your disgust. I’ve interacted with strangers the most here actually, but maybe I just caught folks on a particularly chatty day.Ĥ/5- good working vibes, opportunity to be friendly or be a loner, food is overpriced IMO Wifi is decent here, can be spotty when a lot of folks are there. Interactions with strangers are possible because of how crammed seating is.ģ.5/5- recommend if you have docs you can work on offline, for a lunch working experience.Įmissary: If you get there before noon getting a spot isn’t bad. Pretty loud if you are trying to do calls but also very welcoming environment. I haven’t had great wifi experiences here. Tryst: Hard to find a decent spot as it’s always packed. But, the people here always seem super interesting to watch.Ĥ/5recommend for the artsy/skateboarded in high school/wish you were in New York type ![]() Very minimal interaction with strangers in my experience due to how large the lobby is. Line Hotel: this place is so sexy but it’s so dark I find it hard to work? Maybe I should sleep more. I’ve been trying out a few places and here are my reviews thus far: ![]() I find that sitting next to an interesting person and asking if they can watch my coffee/book while I go to the bathroom is a decent intro and I usually return the favor! I’ve lived in DC for a bit and am trying to work from home outside of my home (coffee shops, libraries, etc) AND happen to be a single woman that likes to meet people in the wild.
